5 Types of Goals

  1. Parameter goals—how do I want to live? What makes me feel like it was a good day?
  2. Purpose goals—what's it all about? How can I advance my big-picture values and goals, one day at a time?
  3. Phase goals—what's a meaningful milestone I can knock out in the next three months?
  4. Progress goals—how will I measure my results, so I can tell if I'm on track or need to make an adjustment?
  5. Practice goals—what will I do every day to make progress toward my goals and live the kind of life I want?
